Mt Hutt

Mt Hutt is one of the largest and highest ski areas in the South Island and features wide open terrain with plenty of runs for all skiers and riders, including a great beginner’s area with a 140m long enclosed Magic Carpet. The field has superb advanced terrain including the Rakaia Saddle Chutes and South Face. There is a choice of four freestyle terrain parks. Mt Hutt has a comprehensive base lodge that offers a choice of restaurants and bars, a retail shop, snow sports school and licensed crèche.

Porters

Porters is a family focused ski area with a complete range of ski and snowboard terrain to suit all abilities.

Spectacular panoramic mountain vistas from atop Porters feature pristine Lake Coleridge, rows of snow-capped Southern Alps and the sweeping, flat Canterbury Plains.

With 600 hectares of skiable terrain and just over 600 metres of vertical drop, there is plenty of scope for all skiers and riders – from beginners on the magic carpet to off-piste skiing and riding.

Porters installed a new, 689m long, four-seater chairlift for the 2015 season to replace its first T-Bar. The new lift will open up more terrain, as the slope will no longer be cut in half by a T-Bar lift track. It will carries up to 2000 per hour up the slopes, double the current T-Bar capacity.
